You are Rich
When a child asks you a question and you answer

Do you know you are rich?

Inside you is a child overflowing with treasures gathered when the world was innocent. In a sense you never grow up. For your memory remembers what is important.

So, when a child asks you a question as an adult, you answer from that private store of knowledge you carry within you.

Passing on experience and understanding is one of the great gifts of our lives, and costs us nothing to give.

Asking a question of an adult and trusting the response is truthful is one of the great strengths of childhood. When else do you trust so completely?

However, beware as an adult of the never-ending “why ?” of the inquisitive child spinning the conversation out.

The answer to the kid? You say: “because; now go to bed."
